Just to round out my recent posts about this topic, I also just found a way to manually remove the "1" from inside the settings app. Gotta love macrumors members! I did some more googlin and found this post. Many thanks to the poster! I no loner have the badge or the "1" inside the settings app. These really didn't bother me, especially the "1". I would have been fine keeping them both. But because we jailbreak we have options to address these types of things lol. Anyways, here's a link to the post so anyone can remove the "1" if they feel like it.

Elated to hear some figured it out, but I'm confused by his description. Any chance of a "translation"? Lol

I've no idea how to go about doing what is suggested in that thread, anyone got any tips please, I couldn't find anything like that in ifile.

Like he says:

Open iFile (or Filza) and go to

Applications/Preferences.app/General.plist
In the General.plist file it is the second <dict> group

and

Applications/Preferences.app/Settings.plist
In the Settings.plist file search for "general" and you will find the right section.

you need to delete this:

<key>cellClass</key>
<string>PSBadgedTableCell</string>

The word "badge" should only appear once in each plist. Either way, if you read the different lines, you will see that it's broken down by each section of the settings app. And it goes right in order. One plist is for the main page in settings when you first open the app and it'll start with airplane mode. The other plist starts with the "about" section as it appears when you click on general. The two plist files tell iOS how to display the cells when you open the app. By removing the 2 lines in each, you are clearing the "1" badge. When iOS pinged the server and saw the iOS update, it updated the 2 plist files to show that "1" badge.

Click edit, search for badge, then delete the 2 lines. I made backups of each plist file first just in case but this is a minor change and you won't have any issues so long as you only delete those 2 lines.

I was so happy to find hat post lol

Alright then, I'll try this when we get home tonight. I can't wait for that badge to be gone.
Speaking of the instructions should be stickied To defeat that badge

Good luck. It's pretty straightforward but let me know if you have any questions. I can help if you need it.

Interesting development:

My (1) badge has vanished!

I don't know what did it exactly, or when it vanished, but I just checked and it's gone. A little while ago I ran iCleaner and deleted the 8.1.1 ota update(1.4gb!). Not sure if that did it because over the weekend I cleared badges with the relevant FlipControlCenter button but I think that's just a temporary fix...

I can't find the way guys posted here . Please someone post step by step how to do it. was trying last 30 min but no success.

Hopefully, Bumpy can put up a step by step guide for ya. My wife is at her parents and I tried explaining this over the phone to her and was just told that I'm a "********* terrible teacher" and she will just wait till she gets home lol.

Haha did you figure this out? I posted instructions at reddit. I'll copy and paste them here. Standby.

Edit: Here are better instructions. This should help everyone. Let me know if I should make them clearer.

Go to the Preferences app folder. In iFile, keeping going back to the first directory "/". Then tap on Applications. Scroll down to Preferences. Then remove these two lines:

<key>cellClass</key>
<string>PSBadgedTableCell</string>

from the General.plist and Settings.plist files. Make copies of these 2 files just in case you make a mistake and need to start over. Each file should only have the word "badge" one time. Tap edit, then search for "badge" and delete the above two lines. Do this for both plist files. Then respring and the "1" will be gone from both the main settings page and when you tap on General. For the red badge over the icon, like I mentioned previously, just install Remove Badges, clear the badge, and uninstall the tweak.

Let me know if you have any questions.
