today, i ordered the 38mm sports watch. the green and white ships the fastest so far (1-2 weeks) while the rest are 3-5 weeks.

i have been waiting for the 42 mm for weeks now. my pr0blem is i have a 200mm wrist and heavier build at 5'7. i have no way of knowing how it would look in person but to gauge the appearance on my wrist using the case comparison on the apple app.

i am planning to just return it after i use it a few times just to satisfy my curiosity. I'm just gonna tell apple that the size is just wrong for me and tell them the same reason why.

anyone had/have the same dilemma? did it eventually look good on you? did you return for exchange? would they even do that?

I placed an order for a 38mm ss with sport band at 5:53 today and I just got charged. I was tired of waiting for my 42 ss that is stuck in processing hell. I was curious if it would process very fast. I'm probably going to use it for awhile and return it when my larger one arrives.

Wonder if it's worth trying to make a little extra reselling it for 20 or so over what I paid for it.

Don't waste your time. It will look silly on you. The 38 looked bad on me and I have 170mm wrist max.

Aside from the Apple Store app size comparison, there are several websites with printable watch/band examples so you can size compare.

The 38 will look way too small on your wrists, IMO.

This is all assuming you can't just go try them on in store of course...

My other half preordered the 38 Sport on 4/10 for me (birthday gift); I received it on launch 4/24. I'm OCD about device condition and knowing glass would scratch easily, I went by the Apple Store that day - to finally see all of the watches in person (I ignored the try on sessions earlier, as I wanted the launch to be more impactful). I ended up falling for the 38 SS ML. I kept thinking of that variant - so I reconciled my possible being without an Apple Watch, if I chose to return.

I sauntered into the Apple Store, that following Monday (4/27), box (and shipping box) in hand, watch on wrist and simply returned it. I asked that it be credited to a giftcard (not my partners card, so I could order then and there). I (with the help of an Apple rep) figured the remainder to be owed for a SS 38 ML (incl taxes and AC) - paid the difference for said order.

I was willing to wait 4-6 weeks (tough because I love the AW platform); received a 5/29-6/11 date.

I received my 38 SS ML on 5/8, less than 2 week from ordering and - even - arrived within the original preorder window (4/24-5/8)...I received 2 AW orders in that frame - pretty awesome!

Follow your heart, big guy - get the watch you want

Yes - returning was easy as easy gets.

Here's what happened to me:

ORdered cheapest model, got it on the 24th. Sport 38mm white sport band.. in the end didn't like the cheap look of the sport

Then I ordered the 38mm classic buckle that shipped in a day, loved the look but could NOT get over the want for a 42mm..

So today, I went to Craigslist, bought a 42mm SS w/ black sport band and I LOVE it!! I paid $100 over list price but I just didn't want to wait a month+ for my 42mm model.

In conclusion: spend the premium on craigslist or have patience and wait for the watch you DO want.

Don't do this - depending on the model, the 42 will ship decently.

That $100 is AC+ and an extra Sport band - just wait it out, it'll fly and come sooner. The orders are probably moving faster, now that the bulk is being shipped (the mass launch day orders).

I got rid of my 38mm. It does look a lot smaller in real life. Very girly. And I am not even a big guy. My wrist are small, and it still looked funny. Noticed also the band felt really tight on me. So I wasn't satisfied with it. Waiting on my 42mm now.

What matters is your wrist width and body constitution... Thus a 38 can be perfect for some guys.

I guess you're not in the Us?

I went to craigslist. No Apple watch to be had yet in my area. I live in Canada.

Why not just wait for the 42?

Because everyone else has their aw already ### I ordered April 10 it's been a month. 42s of all variant are to shop for July #. I live in Canada.

Instant gratification syndrome.

And a compulsive buyer. I know. My family intervened already. I bought a vw Tiguan while I was out running one morning. Another, I bought a house because it looked like a cabin. It's really cool. The house.
