Guys initial setup on a new mini and I have no idea what this means. Can somebody help? Thx

I have to admit that after 35 years of Mac use, if I had seen that, I wouldn't have understood what it meant, either.

Instead of showing us a cryptic icon, why not just the alert, "turn on your Apple keyboard, or connect a USB keyboard" ???

I'm with you on that. There've been lots of changes to macOS UI recently. Many of them are expanded and more helpful messages. But there are also quite a few very strange ones such as this example. What ever happened to intuitive user interface? Is there anyone quality checking adherence to UI standards?

They're going for the classic Mac floppy disk ? icon. Or they're too lazy to add translations for "connect your keyboard, dummy."
 
Wow, I probably would have never known what this meant either. I can see it now though...the image is the back of the keyboard. Is it animated in any way? Do they show the front of the keyboard and show it being turned around?
 
WHat a wonderful msgs that does not not look anything like a keyboard or mouse or even the trackpad is a stretch.
