I just got new 24" iMac SR Core 2 Duo today. It is gorgeous! I wasn't sure if I was going to like it at first because of the pictures I saw online...It looks much better when you actually see it... Absolutely Gorgeous!

    For the 320GB Version, WD..

Ok I did the test there were no distortions on the iMac so I guess it has S-IPS or S-PVA (whatever that means). I also did the test on my 17" SR MacBook Pro and there were distortions...

    Thanks for the link....

No. If you pressed on the screen, bad things happened.

Noice. I'll probably post mine sometime at the end of August, when I get the 24" Vesa bracket.

Should be an interesting setup. On the wall a 24" iMac (new) and somewhere on my desk a 20" iMac G5 (pre-isight)

    :)

Are you already setting up a copy of Vista on that iMac? That's what it looks like.

Major props for the clean desk.

*edit* I see the Parallels icon on the desktop - nice

    Awesome -- thanks for checking!

    S-IPS=best for graphics/colour intensive work (I'm a photographer). That's what's in the 23" Cinema Display.

S-PVA is brighter than S-IPS, which is great for games and moviewatching but colours can shift from different viewing angles and the dark areas tend to block up. Not bad at all, but not ideal for photo work.

Have you ever been in a store with a 24" iMac next to a 23" Cinema Display? You can see a real difference. That said, the last generation of 24" had pretty good screens. If the new ones are at least that good we should all be very happy (BTW I'm actually happy about the glass over the screen, I've got a screen touching gf:eek:).

I had the 23" Cinema Display last year, it kind of had a pinkish look to it. I think the iMac's Screen and the Cinema's Screen are pretty much the same except that the iMac doesn't have that pinkish tone to it and it seems to be a bit brighter.

In my condo, I have huge sliding doors, from top to bottom and there is lots of light coming in. The glossy screen on the iMac does not bother me whatsoever.
I had a Matte Screen on my previous MacBook Pro, when I got the SR MacBook Pro I decided to get the Glossy Screen instead. In direct sunlight (unlike most people complain), I can actually see the screen which the Matte Version was impossible to see anything at all, so since I am not a professional, the glossy screens are a plus for me. And the iMac's screen is not as bad as people make it to be.

BTW, I wish I could cut the finger off of people who touch my screens lol, that kills me!

    Hi,
Just bought my iMac 24" this afternoon and tried the graphics test above. I agree that there is no change in colour, just a slight change in brightness when viewed from above and below.

Also, glossy screen is gorgeous. No issues for me despite having a window behind me. So pleased I took the plunge and bought one of these babies!! :D

    Cheers,
    Craig.

I too must know where the desk came from. Also, what kind of speakers are those?

After months looking for a computer desk that looked decent, I found this one at Target for $129.00 plus $49.00 for the Hutch. The pictures on Target's website don't do it justice. The color on their website is not accurate, the desk is a dark brown almost black.

The speakers are the JBL Spot (changeable faceplates white and black which comes included when you buy them).

This thread is as good a place as any to ask...

On the wired keyboard (looks like that's what you have), how long is the cord? Do they include an extension cord for it?

The cord is just as long as the old iMac's Keyboard. No there is no extention cord for the keyboard. I had to use my own.
