Interesting. I'd never paid attention before that there is such a thing as services preferences. All sorts of useful stuff in there. Feeling kind of dumb now, but thanks for the tip!
Glad to help.I keep finding neat tricks that remind me why I use a Mac. I feel like I am overlooking 90% of teh things that make a Mac even more useful.

As for dumb, the more I learn the more I realize how dumb I really am...

Could you give an example of something that has been taken away?

Something that always wows people who are unfamiliar with Macs is Screen Sharing through Messages. It is so handy when dealing with parental computer issues.
OK. I'll byte. What is Screen Sharing via Messenger? I've used 3rd part apps to allow me to view someone's screen and troubleshoot but never via messenger? does it let you take control over the mouse and keypad as well?

If the other person is also using a Mac, go to their conversation in Messages and tap on info. There should be a screen sharing button I think toward the top right. You can either share your own screen or ask to see theirs. They can either let you have full control of the computer or just observe.
It’s very useful for assisting parents.

I did not know that existed.

I used to do that and in iChat and it was VERY useful, but it quite working for me when they changed iChat to Messages. Pretty frustrating.
