I am considering getting an iPhone 3gs and going with ATT. What would the cheapest plan be and would it be possible to take the data package off?

I forget the exact cheapest plan and I'm not 100% sure about data, but I believe you can take it off. Without data however, you WILL NOT have voicemail. Go Figure.

This is 100 percent wrong. You must have a data plan with your iPhone. The unlimited plan from AT&T costs $30 a month. This plan includes unlimited data, but no text messages. The lowest phone plan you can get is $39.99 for 450 anytime minutes, 5,000 night and weekend minutes and unlimited mobile to mobile.

This means you're looking at $79.99 for the cheapest voice and data plan without texting and before taxes.

Crappy, I know, but it's the price we pay for Apple's phone coupled with AT&T's pathetic services.

fixed, you can still call your own # and get your mail, thing is that's if your on an unlocked iPhone that att does not know you have.

Cheapest is

$40 450 anytime mins
$30 data plan
$5 <--- worst case taxes

$75

no texts! I suggest you use the text free app for them if your really really trying to cut the budget.
