"Ted Lasso" won the 2021 Outstanding Comedy Series Emmy, and it is in the running to do so again. The show is competing against "Only Murders in the Building," "What We Do in the Shadows," "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," "Hacks," and other shows. "Ted Lasso" stars Jason Sudeikis as an American coaching a soccer team in the UK.

"Severance" is a psychological thriller that has received rave reviews. It follows the employees of Lumon Industries, a company that uses a "severance" medical procedure to separate the work and personal lives of its workers. One employee, played by Adam Scott, tries to put the two halves of his lifes together and discovers a deep network of conspiracies and lies.

Other nominees in the drama category include "Better Call Saul," "Euphoria," "Squid Game," "Succession," "Stranger Things," and "Yellowjackets," so "Severance" has some notable competition.

Apple TV+ actors and crew have received a number of other nominations, with "Ted Lasso" earning a total of 20 nominations in categories like Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series.

"Severance" has been nominated in a number of categories as well, including Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, with both John Turturro and Christopher Walken receiving nominations. Patricia Arquette was also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Other Apple TV+ shows that have received nominations include "Lisey's Story," "Pachinko," "Schmigadoon," "The Morning Show," "Central Park," "Carpool Karaoke: The Series," "The Problem With Jon Stewart," "Foundation," and "SEE," with a full list available on the Emmys website [PDF].

Severance is probably the best show in TV history. That finale!! 🤯

I pretty much immediately binge-watched the entire season a second time to uncover all the hidden details and easter eggs that I missed the first time. The show gets better with every watch.

Btw, if you still haven't yet, go read the leaked letter from one of the employees of Lumen Industries. Read it carefully from beginning to end (do not skip to the end). You will be mind-blown all over again. You can find the letter in Apple Books.

Severence. Took me about 2 episodes, but then hooked. I never really liked the main actor, and the fact it seemed a low developing series, made it difficult to start with. However, after I finished them all, I agree, one of the finest shows I have ever seen. They'd better hurry up with the next season

Love Severance, absolutely. Adam Scott seems to finally find the exact right role for his skills. I haven’t been that surprised by an actor since Andrew Scott and Martin Freeman in Sherlock. Also, for the first time in years I am absolutely on board with Patricia Arquette in a role. She’s really amazing on this one. Honestly everyone in the show is superb.

I thought it took Severance a couple of episodes too long before it got into the plot a little. The trips up and down the featureless halls got a little overdone. A visuals in lieu of plot development thing. But now it might have some traction, depending on what the writers and director have on the boards now that a major surprise has been sprung.

My only question: is this filmed on Neptune, or some other Ice Planet where it's always snow covered? Even in Minnesota and Canada we get (however brief) Spring, Summer, and daylight. Or am I missing the art direction that requires it to be bleak and dark 100% of the time?

What we do in the Shadows is such an underrated show if you haven't seen it get on it!

Last season of Ted Lasso wasn't as good as previous but still a great one.

I'm a couple episodes in on Severance, gotta jump back on that one. Been really enjoying Mythic Quest lately. Probably another underrated show.

The only show worthy of awards is Better Call Saul, and it's not even close. That show is a damn masterpiece. Everything the Breaking Bad crew learned they perfected and applied to Better Call Saul. It's embarrassing for the Emmy's to not even have given Michael McKean a nomination in Season 3 for Chicanery... what a sick joke.

Seriously, the one show that's pushed the envelope with creativity and done it beautifully gets SNUBBED? WHY???

The nice thing about Lasso is it attracts a wide variety of viewers without the tacit and direct political angling of the writer/producer/director. It’s become almost impossible to watch anything without the political nonsense. Never understood how the political activism was deemed essential when it risks losing half its potential market. People are not that stupid to see the embedded political messages. Without, it allows the viewer to immerse himself or herself into the story, characters, and humour that I believe is more important.

Severance is great. But still for Drama Series "Better Call Saul" is my pick - we'll see. For Comedy Series it is between Ted Lasso and Barry IMO

The one snub is The Boys! Fracking great show. It needed to be nominated but probably too irreverent for mainstream Hollywood.

I wish there was appreciation for The Righteous Gemstones. HBO doesn't even push it in their FYC ads (that I've seen).
