Why are you using lubbos fan control? The fans will spin up automatically anyway when it gets hotter.

You that have problems with throttling, is it with the internal display or with external via thunderbolt / hdmi?

While the CPU throttling is clearly an issue of too much heat/power requirement, i dont quite understand why the GPU underclocks itself, considering that it isnt hot.

Did anyone try the newest Nvidia driver? What are the results then?
What happens if you force P1 state? Does it stop the underclocking then?
I think there must be some power setting that causes all this, as i have seen people on this board who can easily overclock their rMBPs and run them like this for hours...

The newest nVidia driver is perfectly suited for the overclocked GT 650m. I use it and fans have been at maximum speed the entire time without lubos without any throttling. Temperatures have been insane though going up to 100 Celsius without disabling turbo boost.

Are you referring to the CPU temperature or the GPU temperature in this case? :)

A small update. I disconnected the external display and only used the Macbooks built-in display. When I do that the GPU doesnt throttle anymore.

I even managed to overclock it a bit to about 1020 Mhz while still having temperatures below 80C.

If I connect the external display the GPU starts to throttle again.

I can confirm that I experience GPU throttling when the TB display is connected.
