I bought this MacBook Pro a few months ago now and it's always had this shadow, but finally decided to get round to doing something about it. I have an appointment at the Apple Store next Monday. I just wondered what was most likely to happen once they've seen this issue?

I've attached a couple of pictures. It's the bottom left corner.

Use your Apple warranty and make an appointment with your nearest Apple Store to have them check it out.

I already have an appointment with my local Apple store booked for next Monday. I was just wondering what they're most likely do once they've seen the issue i.e. will they replace the screen, or what?

My guess would be that they would replace the screen if they find a problem. It does not look right to me from the pictures.

Thanks.

Do the staff at the Apple store ever try to turn a blind eye and pretend they can't see the issue? I'm worried that will happen, as my issue is quite subtle, but it's enough to irk me.

Hi Scott,

please let me know of the result after you have been visiting the Apple store. My rMBP 13" has the same dark shadow on the bottom left corner of the screen. Looks absolutely identical to yours.

Regards,
Stephan

No problem, I will do. My appointment is on Monday morning so I will update this thread after that.

Any news?

Yes! I took it into the Apple store and they acknowledged the problem immediately and said they can have the whole screen replaced within 2 hours in-store, so I left it with them and came back 2 hours later and they let me have a look at the laptop before taking it home. The shadow was gone (and an added bonus for me, a scratch that was on the top of the aluminium, next to the Apple logo was now gone, as the whole top panel had been replaced). Once I got home, I placed my MacBook alongside my brother's and noticed that my screen was now slightly more "yellow" than his, but a quick calibration sorted that out and I'm extremely happy with the end result.
