I admit I don't use Pixelmator (though I have recommended and installed it for others). My last time around with the product was a few years ago.

If Pixelmator is the main program, perhaps it would be possible to use something like GIMP for those special needs (like stretching) and then return the end product to Pixelmator. Maybe someone here can confirm if this is a reasonable approach (other than working of course entirely in GIMP).

My present photo programs are Capture One for RAW import and catalogue and CS6 photoshop for any additional work on images. - I wont be moving forward with Adobe's pay to play software that is being forced upon us all. Perhaps one day Pixelmator will come as close as needed and I will be more than happy to jump ship.
