Share an iPhone - backup enough?

I am leaving the country for a bit, and want to lend my phone to someone. Is it simple to backup my phone and restore it when I get it back? Is there a way to copy the backup (say to a USB or something) in case I have a different computer when I get it back ?

backup is sufficient enough, you can copy backups to usb drive, depends on your OS depends where the location of the backup will be:

Windows: %appdata%\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
Mac: /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup

As long as you realize the backup doesn’t contain your media (pics, music, video, etc).

it does remember the last sync options though and since the OP isn't moving computers during the whole thing it's not an issue

He talked about having a different computer, so I’m making sure he knows his media is not in the backup. Some people think it is.
