Thought you had to have another computer connected and then boot Recovery in order to see the option.
No, you don't. On my M1 Air the option shows up, even when nothing is connected.
But on the Neo the option does not show, even when I have a USB-C cable (or TB3, I tried both) connected to another AppleSilicon Mac (in that case my M1 Air).

I assume, "Share Disk" is only possible when TB connections are supported. Since A18 does not support TB, "Share Disk" is not available as well.
Does that make sense?

You quoted the exact article I already quoted in my first post. What did I miss?

Unlikely. Does Share Disk show in fallback recovery?

Good idea.
I just checked on my M1 Air and on both my Neo's.
Fallback recovery on the M1 Air does show the Share Disk option.
Fallback recovery on both Neo's does NOT show the Share Disk option.

Hi all,

I created an account specifically to comment on this thread. I encountered the same issue: my MacBook Neo did not show a "Share Disk" item in the Utilities menu. I tried a few different cables connecting to my other MacBook, but nothing seemed to work.

On the hunt for clues as to why this might be, I opened up the Recovery OS Log (Window > Recovery Log) and searched for "share." Lo and behold, I saw this log entry:

Code:
MacBook-Neo OSIESpringboard[231]: Current hardware does not support Mac Sharing Mode, removing from menu.

So it seems that this is probably intentional. Or at the very least, the Recovery OS would require some kind of update to enable Share Disk for MacBook Neo users.
