Apple should've explained more clearly what macro photography is... clearly some on here do not know that it means extreme close-ups and not a pic of the restaurant's floor from normal distance or a picture of their dad's back.. seriously lol

One of the main features that made me purchase the new iPhone 13 Pro is it’s ability to take great close-up photos (which will be very useful for my work).

Does anyone have any great macro photography shots they would like to share? I’d love to see them. Thanks!

Assuming this is a serious question and you’re not trolling, all macro photography has very shallow depth of field.

You’re normally talking about 3mm or 4mm actually being in focus.

If you look at that bug shot, the head is sharp but the antennae go out of focus.

Trick is to try and get the bugs eyes sharp, rather than the body.

Google insect macro shots to see what I mean.
I’ve tried taking macro pictures using the 3x option. These pictures always seem to be blurry when you zoom in. It must be ‘digital zoom’ (the 3x doesn’t really work for macro photography shots)?

One of our cats, Myla.

As someone who literally just points and shoots, I'm grateful that I have a phone which allows me to capture photos like this. I know one day they won't be with us (hopefully that day is a long way off!) so having shots like this to look back on will put a smile on my face.

That’s the great part of
I like seeing the reflection of the hand holding the camera in the pet photograph.

It only works in 1x mode. Get close enough and it automatically switches to macro mode and the .5x lens without changing the dial on your screen. This is why many are (rightfully) irked, you can only use the best lens on the camera from a certain distance. I guess they figured this was the best compromise to leave the .5x lens mode separate from macro, perhaps to make it more discoverable.

The lack of option (which exists for video) is a classic Apple head scratcher.

I’ve taken a lot of pictures trying to get the 3x mode to ‘look good’ (zoomed in) before realizing that there isn’t any detail when the 3x option is used. It’s kind of deceiving. That’s not to say that the 1x pictures are bad (they’re still awesome to see from iPhone).

When you say ”it’s kind of deceiving” what is the ‘it‘ you’re referring to?
