Just curious what everyone's Coconut battery health history looks like.

I will start with mine. My M1 Air 16GB/1TB machine is at (15) cycles. My battery health is currently 96.8%. It looks like it is slowly going back up.

Please share your cycle count, battery health percentage, and "MOST IMPORTANT" the history viewer showing your battery.

What do you use the MacBook for? How is the charge habit? It looks unusual for me, 3% drop in less than 1 month. Mine is Intel latest Air, 9 months old, normal wear.

Some gaming, and mostly entertainment purposes. It has been charged past 80% only twice. I keep the battery between 60-80% all the time. After 10 cycles the battery health collapsed from 100% health to 95% health pretty quickly.. Not sure why. I have been very particular about the charging, and the usage of this machine. I even use Aldente. The battery health has been slowly climbing back up though.

It usually stays on my desk, and I keep a fan on it if im gaming so my battery doesn't get hot and stay hot for hours on end.

From how the Coconut history looks, most MacBooks improve after a while usually between 20-30 cycles they go back up. Maybe the battery requires some time?

I am unfamiliar with MacBooks, and monitoring batteries outside of RC cars.

This is my first MacBook.

It is not unusual for a Mac battery to quickly go down to 98 -95% etc. while still being fairly new. Often times, the battery level will slowly go back up some. It changes day to day. The battery is an ever-changing chemical reaction. If the battery were a linear question, you might have some cause to be concerned. However, this isn't the case with the battery.

I have 19 cycles on my 5 month old M1 MBA. Design capacity fluctuate between 99.2 - 99.9% and there is no cause for concern.

If after 2 years the battery needs replacing, Apple will change it for $199.00. Don't obsess over the battery.

I think it‘s just about variations in manufacturing. I have similar treatment with you. Keep 45-75%, use Aldente (just in case I forgot to unplug), and never put the charging on whole day (even already using AlDent). A bit different is in the morning, I let using the battery around 1 hr whatever the charge level, before I plugged in, but unsure if this made the difference. If I render video / play game, I usually put the MacBook on top of the medical liquid cooler pack (Physiopack) instead of using extra fan.
But don’t worry, as long as you keep the good habit, the deterioration will be much slower. I have 2014 rMBP which still at 84% health today with this practice.

I have a Macbook Air M1 that is a week old. I only installed aldente two days ago set to 80% maximum. battery health 99.2% and cycles 10. Sometimes I wonder if I should bother with aldente. I mean its so annoying to charge between 40-80% sometimes three times a day. How long do these battery last on average in years when charged once a day from say 20% all the way up to 100%? I am reading around 5 years do you guys agree?

Don’t overthink it too much. Aldente is only for those who use their machines on a desk plugged in for extended amounts of time. (Aldente will keep that machine set to a specified amount lower than that of 100% for days or weeks or months at a time)

I can play on my machine and sit at like 50-60% and use only wall power. Then, if I do actually go somewhere and use my machine (On the Go) I would charge it up to 80% and run on battery. Or If you need maximum capacity them charge it to 100% instead.

I am at around 25 cycles now. Just use it and enjoy it.

3-month old M1 MBA. Used all day every day, light tasks (documents, browsing, films, photo editing). I usually keep it between 40-80% - no Aldente, just unplug around 80%.

Still the battery health decreases kinda fast, if this app is to be believed. System preferences reports 100%.

But I can't complain about battery life so far - I can get over 15 hours on a charge (if I wanted to).

I run 100% on battery and my battery is doing pretty good.

Not sure what happens when someone tends to run 100% on power.

Apple doesn't make any specific mention about avoiding being plugged in all the time to maximize battery lifespan.

Mac Air m1 bought on Dec 25 open box from BB. Sitting at 89% - was using it for 5 months, 2 months was sitting for occasional use. Charging habit - sometimes plugged in but mostly on battery. To be honest, numbers are much worse than my MBP 13 2012 retina. With that one i had 90% only around 500 cycles.

Is it really my imagination? I thought BS has some sort of protection against excessive battery wear.

Mine is plugged in most of the time, at 35 cycles I am at 100,5%, the highest was 101,3% at 17 cycles, lowest – 99,5% at 10 cycles.
