For me, my introduction was the 1st iPod touch and to this day I haven’t experienced a new piece of tech that made so excited to use!
My first iPhone was the 3G, and I remember being wowed by the iPhone 4(probably my favorite design) up to the 5. That along with the style of iOS was my favorite timeline. I do wish we will have UI in the future that has a little life to it!
In addition, jailbreaking and customizing back then was super easy and fun

I got the first iPhone the day after it was released in 2007 and I’ve never looked back. Absolutely love at first sight. I don’t know that I’ve had a favorite device, I have loved them all while I had them and my favorite is probably always the one I currently have. It’s been wild to watch iOS and the tech grow and change.
It was really incredible and exciting right from the beginning! Was there a device or iOS you remember being looking forward to most?
Going from an Xperia W550 to the original iPhone was mind blowing, it was the only device ever that I felt that sense of marvel/wonder, and I'm a bit of a gadgets freak always looking out for the latest and greatest. On a side note, I still deeply resent Apple for dumping skeuomorphism everytime I use my Mac/iPhone.

My first smartphone was the HTC Touch Pro (I still have it) that I got in 2009. At the time, while I was using Macs, I was not an iPhone person. I can remember being able to cut and paste and send MMS with my Touch Pro, yet friends on AT&T were not able to do so on their iPhone of the time.
I hated the look of the iPhone 4 and 4s (but I own both now) so I waited until the launch of the iPhone 5 on Sprint to get my first fully purchased new iPhone. I was unwilling to switch to AT&T just for the privilege of using the iPhone.
I chose to switch to iPhone in 2012 because (to me) the Apple ecosystem had matured enough. Unfortunately for me, Apple chose that year to abandon PowerPC Macs for use with the iPhone.
To prepare myself for my new iPhone 5 and iOS, I used a gifted 3GS from Christmas 2011 to September 2012 as a secondary phone. I used the 3GS on WiFi and at the time Talkatone would let you use a Google Voice number free (with ads) for calls and texts. So, the 3GS was capable of everything when on WiFi.
The 3GS introduced me to iOS and jailbreaking. I made all my jailbreaking newbie mistakes on the 3GS where it didn't matter. By the time I got the Sprint iPhone 5 in 2012, I was prepared. I jailbroke my 5 in 2013 and every iPhone I've had since, with the exception of my current 11 Pro Max, has been jailbroken. I enjoyed having a lot of the things that have come around just recently to iOS long before now.
Apple's abandonment of PowerPC forced me to create my own methods of syncing with my device and using my device. I do not now use the Apple ecosystem (with certain exceptions) because Apple never allowed me in to begin with. All my workarounds (jailbreaking, third party services) became a habit and I don't need Apple to use them on my iPhone.
My favorite iPhone is still the iPhone 5. If Apple could make the iPhone 5 in the size of the Pro Max with modern iOS, I'd be very happy.
Phones I have: HTC Touch Pro, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s Plus, Pixel 3a XL and my current phone the 11 Pro Max. The 3GS, 4 and 4s I acquired. They were never used as primary phones.
I'd just add that I also have my 2007 Sanyo Katana flip phone in the garage. Doesn't work anymore, but I have it.

Those are the words I should’ve used, as I felt the same way. With the sharpness of displays these days I feel it’s waste to have UI’s too flat with no vibrance.
I still use macOS Catalina, and I feel it had a good mix of flat and lively UI. I dislike the newer versions as making it look like iOS sort of took away the special uniqueness of using a Mac
Thanks for sharing that experience! It really tells you how much carriers, phones, iOS, and the cloud has progressed over the past 10+ years.
I do miss that time from 2009-2012 where the advancements seemed huge! The upgrade from the 3G/S to the 4 really was big. I got the 4 and it was a pleasure to use until I got the 5. The jailbreak scene was also at its best and it’s fun to go back and play with older devices. I’m glad that iOS incorporated many tweaks!
I currently use a 13, and a jet black 7 before that. I’d say for me the 7 was the perfect size and the 5 it’s too small now haha.

I got an iPod touch in 2009. I remember updating it to iOS 4 which had just come out and being so excited!
My first iPhone was the 4, then I've had the 5, 6 plus, 7 plus, X, XS Max, 12 Pro Max, and now 15 Plus. The only reason I got the 12 Pro Max was there was no 12 Plus option.

The iOS 4 update was very exciting then! Whenever I see the raindrops wallpaper I get super nostalgic haha.
That is quite a lineup! Which would you say you were looking forward to most? Enjoy your new 15!

My first smartphone ever was in 2006 with the Cingular 8525 that ran a mobile version of Windows. From there I had a few blackberry's, Samsung Blackjacks, Palm Treo and many other phones I don't remember in a 1-2 year span. In 2008 I moved to iPhone with the 3GS and have upgraded yearly since. My favorite iPhone was the iPhone 5c, just something about that pink color and plastic back I loved at the time.
I remember iOS 4 let you do something with files, which made it so much easier to get eBooks onto it, which is what I used the iPod mainly for.

I remember being super pumped for the 5, and then the 6 Plus was a huge jump up. And then the X with the full screen was awesome, then had to get the XS cos it was the big size, which obviously I love. Honestly I am just a full on Apple fan girl, I have a product from every category except Airpods at the moment haha. The 15 is so nice, I LOVE the pink, and the design is so slick.
