Yes! You can see how much it takes up by drilling into settings, general, usage, photos & camera and checking the space for photo streams (a combined total of your streams and all of your subscribed streams).

There are shared photostreams in iOS 6. I don't get it.

im confused too.... has something changed?

The difference is that in iOS7, multiple people can join the same photostream and share within it. In iOS6, photostream sharing was a one way deal, now, a stream can be shared with as many people as you want (I assume) and they can all share into the same album.

Can people on iOS 6 add to a photo stream created by someone on iOS 7? Sorry if that's been answered already...
