I'm curious, for those that stuck around after Apple seriously jacked their prices, way up. How much have you used Apple Music this year?

I have listened to 8125 songs. A total of 3758 artists over 64,796 minutes / 1079 hours / 44 days.

Moral of the story, I think I've got my monies worth.

And for those that don't mind sharing, show us what you listen to:

Edit: You can make your playlists public then share the links to them instead of screenshots. Sharing doesn't seem to work with smart playlists.

Nice topic and question. But how do you get those stats?

The link should be on 'Listen Now'? Otherwise, go to: https://music.apple.com/be/replay It should redirect to your actual region and then ask you to log in, though I'm still trying to figure out why they don't just do the replay in the app. Either way, a nice recap/reminder. Spotify and co also do it.

$1 extra a month or $10 more year is not jacked up their prices. Did you see how much YouTube premium jacked up the family plan which is not worth it or Disney+ went up $3 to $4 a month and they only been around for 2 years.

I listen to Apple Music all the time. The only thing I hate is their terrible search and playlists where you choose a radio station from a song, where they push rap all the time. Still rap is not as bad as in Tital which I cancelled in minutes after doing a few searches and getting profanity in the search results.

Ah - I found the ‘replay’ playlist but on the iPad OS App it’s just the ‘top tracks’ of the year, not full stats like you have, as far as I can tell.

But, in answer to your question, I use it all the time and have discovered so many new artists that the artists from my lifelong and hitherto sacred music collection now rarely get a look in. Wouldn’t want to be without it. I just wish the App functionality was better - such as smart play lists, search and filter etc.

I was being kinda sarcastic saying they 'jacked up' prices. Hardly. I barely raised my eyebrows, when others threw some serious fits.

I barely ever get anything pushed on me that I don't like. In the beginning yes, such as Justin Bieber.....but AM has since 'learned' what I like and pretty much gets better by the day. You have to 'teach' it. Spotify got it horribly wrong, even after 6 months of using it.

Almost a year on AM now and it us running like a dream, playing about 99% of what I want to hear, if I use the auto stations. I very seldom skip songs. And when I do hear something I really like I tap/click 'Love' and it learns even quicker. I have discovered so much new music this year, mostly Indie labels. I am manually compiling some hefty playlists.

That is odd. I have the exact same stats and replay on iOS 16 / iPhone 12 mini. What iPad OS version are you on?

Otherwise, try go to that link in Safari on your iPad.

Do you also perhaps use Apple Music on a laptop/desktop? Even if you don't have one, you could sign in on any computer, make your playlists, smart or otherwise then sync them with iCloud and you will then be able to see them on your iPad.

I listened to about five lo-fi instrumental hip hop tracks and for weeks I got vulgar hip hop as suggestions. I thumbed down all of them, and it took weeks of them just keep recommending them for it to finally disappear. So, no Apple Music suggestions can suck.

However some suggestions are spot on correct.

Don't get me started on Joe Rogan and podcasts in general on Spotify....

The Apple Music app is apparently coming to Windows next year(2023), for those that care to know. The web interface does have somewhat limited capabilities when it comes to making and modifying playlists.

Search works great for me. I quickly dislike every quasi rap crap that ever plays on anything anywhere. Volume of crappy rap is way down

Like I say, it 'learns'. And in my case, it has learned very well. But you need to keep using it.

I have been working at home for several months now and Apple Music has been running non-stop from morning to late at night, some 12+ hours, almost every day. I'm just theorising, but I think it also learns when you skip songs, or just let them play, and when you manually add them to playlists.

No really, I am 100% satisfied with Apple Music right now.

Mine seems very weird, with a top artist I'm not familiar with. I assume it's because I share my Apple Music Subscription family plan with my family?

If it's the family plan where each member gets their own it should not influence the others, to the best of my knowledge. Now I share my individual plan with my wife (but only one device can play at a time) so yes, the suggestions do get interesting. She likes a lot of Spanish, German and French pop. But as much as we can afford a family Apple Music plan, we are sharing a single because we deliberately want to mix our different tastes in music. She is now making Christmas playlists....oh joy....

I took the missus to a Bob Dylan concert recently, but she has never been much of a fan, and yet she loved it and since that show he is now the top artist in my Apple Music. No complaints there.

Bear in mind you can set your own individual devices to not influence music suggestions, but I'm guessing that's only per user and not the others in the family who should all have their own Apple ID's.

I have the family plan, each members of my family have their own Apple IDs to listen to their own music.

But my highlights top 10 has probably 8 artists that only my kids would have listened to.

Did they maybe at any time use one of your devices to listen to their music, in your AM profile? That's the only reason I can think of that would have caused this.

I used my free music membership for maybe a month, and left the 5 month float in cyber space.
if that place exist.

oh I use my own Library on all devices and HomePod took over a nice Bose sound touch tingee.

Just got one of these 'little' Bose Flex portable BT speakers. Little in size, huge in sound. Only €122 on Amazon. Together with my Bose Earbuds, I can now take my music even more places.

I have archived my old iTunes library which consists mostly of low quality CD rips on an external HD which now sits in a drawer. Apple Music all the way. I took some time during lockdown to recreate most of my iTunes playlists in a new Apple Music library. I tried adding Apple Music to my old library, big mess, but Time Machine saved me there.

Most likely scenario: we have several Amazon Echo devices in the houses/kids' rooms. Those, of course, can only be linked to my Amazon account, which uses an API to link to my Apple Music account. Hence, any song requests via Echos are skewing my metrics.

Doesn't really matter to me.

they are selling JBL go2 speakers for $25 here is the states that fill a room for 5 hours of battery.
Pink Floyd's Meddle and "Dark Side" sounded very well
even the heartbeat and "I know I have been mad for years" at the beginning was hearable.
im amazed by the sound speakers they are making now.

I might sell the Bose Soundtouch, the HomePod Mini sound as good, and syncs better with all  things.

Well, I just glanced at the clock, again. Been sitting on the couch for 4 hours straight, listening with Bose cans and my MacBook Air M1, building playlists for snowboarding....I really need to get up, and go to bed. It's 2am now.
