Hi all,

I am using my Mac to stream vids to my HTPC (alas a Windows machine) over a Gigabit Network. However, my Mac Pro shows up as MAC0E3l093093 <random letters and numbers> when I look up machines in my network on Windows Vista.

This happened recently when I reinstalled Leopard on my Mac Pro. Earlier, it would show up as <My Name>'s Mac Pro. I checked the Computer Name field in the Sharing option in Settings and everything seems A-OK in there.

This is an issue on Windows alone. My other Macs see the name just fine.

Any help would be highly appreciated!

PS: Seems my Mac Pro's NETBIOS name is what shows up on the WIndows share. Wonder if I change that... it will change it to any value I put in there.

Yup, I've had this before and whenever my sister is over her Windows laptop shows up the same way.
I have never checked but I presumed it was the MAC address of the machine perhaps?
