So here's the story:

I have a PC downstairs (not mine, another household member's, but that is where the internet connection is), and i have a pc upstairs, in my room, but i need it to share that internet with the mac i have next to it. I have no ethernet plugs in my room (it' an old house) and i don't have anything besides an old spare ethernet cable, and i don't want to buy anything else.

[modem]=[router] - - wireless connection - - [my pc]==[mac]
||
[downstairs pc]

that is the setup i want basically, "==" representing wired and " - - - " representing wireless.

More info:
the downstairs pc is windows 7
my pc is windows xp
the mac is os x jaguar (it's a g3)
i need file sharing, so i can edit video's on the mac.

Go to the Start>Programs>Accessories>Communications panel on the XP PC and run the Network Setup Wizard. It will allow the PC to share its wireless connection to the Ethernet interface so that it acts as a gateway for the Mac.
