When I open a folder on my MBP I can see on the left side under Shared my iMac and I am able to access the iMac and copy files to and from it. I am not even sure how or when I set this up.

1. Is this only available on my home network?
2. What option enables this?

Thanks.

Do you mean that you can access the file system of your iMac? Or just a particular folder?

Try checking your settings in System Preferences -> Sharing -> File Sharing. You should be able to switch it off completely. Let me know if it helps.

Yes, I am able to access all the files on the iMac. I turned off sharing. I like being able to do this, I just want to make sure that nobody else is able to get in? Can anyone else get into the iMac while on my network or via the internet?

Thanks.
