So i have a network streaming media player, and on SL used to work great, i upgraded to lion and all the file sharing settings stayed the same, now i can log in from my media player through ip address, with my mac user name (no password), and see all my hard drives and folders, but when opening any folder it asks me again for username and password, but i get a "login fail" message from my media player. Any ideas??

I also have the reported smb account glitch reported here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1212372/ if it has anything to do with my problem.

Sharing folders settings:

- AFP selected
- SMB selected, my user account selected.
- Shared folders: my admin user account with read and write and everyone with read only.

I know this really doesn't answer your question but I got tired of dealing with sharing issues and replaced my router with one that had a couple USB ports. I attached a 1tb external drive to that port for a media drive and everything is now easy.
