I received a map point shared via message today and when I click on the shared map I get a map, but it's not a map that integrates with my current position. Ios6 worked differently, whenever I sent or received a location point it would open in my map app. IOS7 seems to limit the opened map point to an alternated map app.

Seems like the functionality went backwards here!?

Do you mean when someone sends you a dropped pin from the maps app via the message app? If so....

Click on the message

And you get this screen, which like you said you can't really do much with besides look.

Then click on the "i" on the dropped pin and you'll get this screen.

Then click on the map link and the map app will open displaying that pin drop location.

Btw, Google maps is a bit more direct if someone is sending you a dropped pin from that.

It will do two things basically. One it will send the address which the message app will change to a link. If you click it it will open the map app immediately to that location.

It will also send a Google map link that will open Google maps in safari.
