iPod Sharing music files across Macs and PC?

Currently, all my music files are stored on my desktop PC. I'm trying to keep my Macbook's HDD free by not having duplicates of music files I already have. I understand that if I turn on the sharing feature of both iTunes, I can listen to both libraries. What I want to do is have the ability to actually rate songs and or change the ID3 tags to the desktop's library <b>from</b> the Macbook. How will I be able to do this? Well, if you have the computers set up for file sharing and the library folder is being shared from the PC then open iTunes holding OPTION and it should give you the option to find a different library. Navigate to the one on the PC and you can then change anything and everything from there. Unfortunately, you won't be able to listen to your Mac's library at the same time though. 😱
