Sharing photos in new Photo app

Can anyone get sharing to work in the new photo app? No one is getting notices and they do not display in the photo app.
Mot impressed with Faces either. The process is very tedious.

Yup, I created a shared album with a friend and she joined, without any prompting from me that I was sharing anything. And I also got a notification on the phone that she joined

Partially solved

The notices were going into junk (they never have before). Some are showing as shared on the iPhone, but not all of them. None are showing as shared in the Photo app.. Photo is not letting me post as public for friends who do not have Apple. I have to change the Shared folder to public on my iPhone.
