I just flew in from the coast, and boy are my arms tired

NO ONE will use this after 5 minutes

you will need Gigantic shoulders

what a TERRIBLE User Interface Design

not every idea from Minority Report is worth creating

I would use the **** out of this display for logic, ableton, both live and studio environments etc. I am a bit leary about latency but god damn... so nice.

I don't think it'll be used for more than about 5 minutes each, so that might be OK. I see this being on trade shows or to view portfolios on some exhibition etc. Not something I see someone working on during long office hours. :D

What is it again? Oh yeah when APPLE does it or it has anything to do with Apple then it's amazing and revolutionary, when anyone else does it it's utter crap and they stole from Apple... hmmm....

The Panasonic 4k 20" tablet is better than this thing as it's actually manageable.

http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/123...20-inch-pro-spec-slate-shows-off-4k-potential

AND it was shown at CES earlier this year, it beat this 32" device into the public eye.

Hmm, I was unaware that Sharp and Apple were the same company, thanks!

Nope. I'm one of Apple's biggest fans and even I have to admit that the majority of people on here are/were "mocking" touch screen PCs.

That said... and rightfully so. Any Touchscreen that doesn't tilt is a nightmare to use.

Try using just your iPhone vertically. Tired yet?

I think the reason this is being praised so heavily is due to OSX being on a 4k Igzo screen... not specifically the "touchscreen" aspect of it.

It is specifically referenced that the 4K Igzo isn't what is new about this. This very screen was previewed at CES. There are also other 4k Igzo screens that you can hook your mac up to.

Believe what you will, but the "news" is specifically OSX and the touchscreen aspect.

Ah, so you obviously totally ignored the part where I stated: or it has anything to do with Apple then it's amazing and revolutionary

Or did you not understand that part of my comment?:rolleyes:

Both were shown at CES.

And Sharp started selling them in February.

that presentation actually look pretty laggy... i guess there is no haswell rmbp attached :D

This could be good as a very large digital painting canvas. Reminds me of the Wacom Cintiq. But other than art, I don't see how this could be useful (or inexpensive) at all.

Such a great product!

This has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, I see it being used most in the pornography industry as with any new technology.

I've been waiting for a multi-touch monitor for FCP and actually Pro Tools. This looks like it will fit the bill just right. Never mind the 4K, but that is a nice option too for great camera work. How about regular 1080 and 4x the speed?

I'm guessing that you would use these near horizontal, and I'm quite fine with that, but vertical, not so much.

Vertical, if the user is standing makes sense, like presentations, education and such.

repeat after me: over-kill

pass..

Really? Lol.... If using like half the power and reproducing better colors is overkill... Then your sadly mistaken. They will be amazing displays no matter what there in because of how much less power they use.

No, pretty clear hypocrisy.

I believe what people were "mocking" was Microsoft's Tiles not the concept of touchscreen.

No, Apple has very publicly shunned touch screen iMac's because the company (as said directly from Tim Cook) does not see any practical use of a touch screens on the desktop or laptop. So of course this has been indoctrinated by Apple fanbois as meaning that touch desktops and laptops are pointless and useless, until they see a demo of OS X on an touch 4K screen and start wanting one.

Just because its running off a mac don't mean apple had anything to do with it. Its a SHARP product That will SUPPORT apple drivers. Get over yourself. Go troll somewhere else

The part that is important is the Igzo display. 32" and 4k. I am glad they can ramp these type of displays to 32" Very low power displays. The touch part is not important. But if the price is right as a 32" monitor...the touch would just be a nice bonus sometimes. as long as the difference wasn't huge. depending on the price of course...

My laptop, external monitor and iPad all sit on my desk right next to each other. Sometimes after working on my iPad, I'll find myself trying to use touch gestures on my other screens. Of course I occasionally try to navigate to my iPad using my mouse.

A touch screen might be useful if it was just a supplemental input. As long as I could still navigate with my mouse when necessary, it might be OK.

I can see how a 32" touchscreen display would be cumbersome to use. But it would have some limited OS use if mounted on a swivel that would make using touch more convenient.

I'd rather have that in iMac form than as an ACD. I suspect we may see something like it alongside an iTV reveal.

Not sure Apple will go to produce a TV per se.
I would love a higher res ACD without the touchscreen part. Maybe with the MacPro release coming soon, we might have updates ACDs alongside it. It would be a nice thing.

Your mistaken... they want the 4k igzo display and 32" of it. Not just the touchscreen. And they were correct... its a fad only because of peoples infatuation with tablets. It does suck to use for more than 10 min. One reason why apple fans say that? Because Apple OS X does not have large tiles therefore it is not as reasonable to use with touch as Windows 8. Try using touchscreen on windows 7. It blows. That's why you see windows with touchscreens and its still inconvenient after about ten minutes. Let's face it. The only thing that you ever really will do with touch are very light duty. As soon as you go into to a word processor or any program with any substance, you're back to the keyboard and mouse. So yes there still correct... touch-screens are a cute add on... nothing more. Thats what tablets are for.

Uh no, the key word here is _desktop_, this has no place in a home computer. However, it does have great potential for professional artist use.

So this isn't a fanboy hypocrisy, because touch on _home computers_ remains utterly pointless.
