Other companies - aside from Burt's Bees - that produce very good (organic and totally natural) products - I've used them and so can adjudicate on the quality (but, not, obviously the shaving cream) - are two excellent British companies Green People and Neal's Yard (both do produce shaving cream made from natural products, because I have checked their respective websites).

They also have scented versions which are quite nice. The rose is mild. If you are concerned, it doesn't really smell feminine.

I really need to second this - none of their products I've used smell feminine to me, and I've used Rose, Lavender, and Lemon Lime. Mr Taylor's is a very smart, classy-smelling scent. Sandalwood is exquisite in cold weather. Avocado - which smells nothing like avocado to me - is one of the freshest spring or cool-weather scents I've ever experienced in such a product. Peppermint has to be experienced to be believed.

The Lavendar is nice. I haven't tried the Lemon Lime. I like the Sandalwood. It is a very old fashioned smell.

For the record, Mr. Taylor's is referring to my recommendation of Taylor's of Old Bond Street, right? I've never heard of a Mr. Taylor's unless it's a regional product. If I'm not mistaken, the Prince of Gaffes issued them a royal warrant decades ago.

Don't tar and feather me, as I actually am picky about shaving products. I've been a double-edge user for about 4 or 5 years now and buy blades in a whole range of prices-I buy what works for me regardless of price, and as it so happens that Derby blades(dirt cheap) and Feathers(on the expensive end).

In any case, I've tried different creams, but I keep coming back to good old Barbasol. No, it's not fancy and it might be tempting to think that something that's a $1(or more like $1.50) a can can't be any good, but it serves me well. They make several varieties with different amounts of scent, but I find the "original" to have little scent. The "sensitive skin" has a bit more, but it's not overwhelming.

In my post above, "Mr Taylor's" is a specific fragrance offered by Taylor of Old Bond Street.

Oh, that one. I can't remember if I ever tried that scent out, but a few of the TOBS scents do irritate my nose and cause me to have sneezing fits. The avocado is quite nice. Actually, a bit of avocado and the lime in a shaving bowl mixed together during the very warm months helps prevent dryness. Have you ever tried the peppermint?

I did try a sample of the coconut years ago. Not a huge fan of the scent. A bit on the 'sweet' side and it threw my scent off for most of the day. Causing me to also crave macaroons later that day. o_O

Arko has always had a long list of fans. Except as with any soap, it needs to be aged. And aged soap is always better than a fresh soap. Although commonly done with hand crafted soaps of any kind, really, even store bought soap and mass market soap improved with aging in a dry environment. It lathers better when old and it doesn't liquidize for lack of a better descriptor.

I use Proraso Sapone Da Barba shaving soap in a tube when both shaving my head and cleaning up the beard. I use both the White and Blue line. Both have a nice scent, although the White is made for sensitive skin and has a very mild fruit scent, where as the Blue has a mild musk scent. I thought the pricing was ridiculous the first time I bought it, but it was highly recommended so I gave it a try - now I swear by it and will gladly pay the premium for that type of product. I imagine most of the other nicer men's shave brands are also nice like Proraso.

I have. If you like menthol-y creams like Proraso or Bigelow's, the peppermint TOBS reminds me of that crisp feel on my skin, but it smells more natural and less chemical-y than outright menthol. I got it for Christmas a year ago and it's a great cold-weather cream.

I've have to try it then. Thanks.
