Shelf life for relacement batteries

I have replacement battery for each of my iBook and 2 AL PBs. So far, I have not used them as the original battery is performing well. Does anyone know the shelf life for un-opened Apple replacement battery for iBook/PB?

After 3-5 years first the capacity begins to decrease. It seems to be important to store Li-Ion batteries 40% charged and cool (15 °C / 59 °F) to slow their ageing.
