This is just her punishment for being more successful than the men who put her away. 5 months imprisonment and 5 months house arrest for insider trading and then trying to cover it up? More tax payer dollars were spent for her trial and incarceration than what she defrauded. A 2 million dollar penalty would have been more than enough.

I don't think they ever should have put her in jail - A much better sentence would have been to have her help benefit society through community service. They could have had her teach classes to aspiring female businesswomen or something like that. It certainly would have been more productive than us paying for her to spend time in 'Camp Cupcake' after all...

I don't know - If I owned stock in a company and then heard that it's price was going to plummet the next week, I would probably try to sell it too. I know that is wrong, but honestly...

Why aren't they focusing on the Enron's of the world that have decimated the retirement savings of so many average joes?

This is pretty silly.

She got convicted, served her 5-month prison term, will complete her house arrest (and what difference does it make if that happens to be in a huge estate house - while being paid) and be done with it.

That's how it works. You go on trial, if you are convicted you get sentenced, you are punished, and then free to go about your business (unless parole).

Ohhh, let's not go there please. I'm actually quite fond of Martha Stewart, even though there are reports of her "bitchiness". She's a great business person, smart, and at one time, a very attractive woman.

Why is there so much hating on martha? i think she can be more respectable now that she went through that jail even though it was minimum security, i bet some of the inmates will even miss her and she will miss some of them. To me it just brings her down more to the common person by doing that. before i thought she was real cheesy but now she has somewhat gone through what some people would fall apart on and she didn't, i bet she will be even bigger than before now.

Don't count her out....a woman or man that is a self made billionaire is nothing short of a Genious in my book. Marha ROCKS and so does my Omnimedia stock...(purchased at 8.00 per share).

the company sees sales sliding going forward, is losing money, and martha can sell stock for the first time in a long time on monday, the price will start dropping.
martha is a survivor, while not my favorite personality, I will see how her life altering experience changes her. I think I just lump her in with the rest of the avarice and greed ceo group, and that group makes my angry as h*ll.

I love her Martha Living TV shows. They are pretty good. I have not had the urge or desire to entertain my friends with velvet ribbon bouquets and white chocolate powdered rice cakes, but as entertainment, it's right up there. Sometimes I am delighted, other times, I feel totally empowered by all the possibilities of finely corseted napkins, etc.
