I don't think so, but you should try it out :p

its buggy though of course.. so far i'm liking it and might be my new favorite browser :p

you would think with 2.0b, shiira gonna use recent webkit, but noooooo.... this is even worse than shiira 1.2.2's core. don't understand what they are thinking..

how can you say the current shiira is ugly? i love shiira and have been using it forever. i have been waiting so long for the new shiira and cannot wait until the new one is fully released!

Uuugh, just kept crashing on me. Im sticking with safari 4 now, shiira looks nice tho.

However slow the renderer is (and I don't get the feeling it's that slow) the big difference for me seems to be that various sites which wouldn't let me in using Shiira (and Safari, and still don't work in Safari) now works in Shiira 2.0b. I like the way it looks.

I really liked Shiira until I got hold of 2.0b1, but hopefully, that will change a lot.

Remembering some rumour that Apple had used the Tab-Exposé idea, I'm surprised that we didn't hear about Safari during the keynote.

Shiira is by far the showiest browser with Tab-Exposé and the page turning effects but to add more and still lack basic functionality, it looks more like a resumé than a useful application.

I would give Shiira 2.0b1 a try if I could set it to use my Safari bookmarks bar. Even if I set them up manually, it doesn't seem to support folders/groups

i had trouble with that too but i figured it out..

just drag the bookmarks into the bookmark bar folder and open a new window.. it will show on the new windows

I tried the beta yesterday, and didn't really like it too much. It looks like Camino will remain my browser of choice for a while. By the way, whats up with all the greyed out options? It seemed like over half of the browser options are greyed out.

But what's up with those toolbar icons? Yegh. There are so many good and gratis sets floating around, you'd think they would have dropped in something a bit more... aesthetic, I suppose.
I actually like them quite a bit. They are small and clean and non-attention-grabbing, I like that. As for the Preferences toolbar, I think they have not added icons yet, those are just regular buttons (notice they're using greater than and less than text instead of the triangle arrows found on the main toolbar). For a pre-alpha, I think it's looking really nice.

I tried the bata and it closes as soon as I launch it.

Edit: It needs OS 10.4. I think I'm the only one without Tiger. :p

uhm no. just 'cause thats in the screenshots on their site doesn't mean its default. 'cause its not. shiira is customizable anyway. you can make it look like safari if you wanted.

Funny, I just downloaded it and it looks EXACTLY like the screenshot I posted. The alternate icons look bad, the tabs look bad, and the sidebar looks ugly as well. I still stand by my opinion that shiira is an ugly looking browser. And as I said, version 2.0 looks very nice in comparison. I'll consider using Shiira when 2.0 is stable and it's feature set is complete.

uhm, yes. that is what my shiira browser looks like, and the only thing i did was take away the text under the buttons, and add a 'home page' button. i love the way it looks. so smooth and mac-like

heres a screen of mine:

Uh, because it's a beta?

Uh, yeah, but most betas I've tried have at least had (almost) all the features in them. They should have put most of the features in first before calling their product a beta. This looks like alpha stuff to me.

It's unbelievable that Captain Obvious even has to mention that. I prefer the look and feel of Shiira over all other browsers. The fact that it didn't work with half the websites I wanted to access thanks to it's use of webkit or whatever it is was the problem.

The current Camino seemed to be the best compromise of form & function - before it took all my favourites with it, something I've not experienced in 13 years of Windows and even Mac-based (for the first 3 years at least) Internet browsing.

The Shiira beta seems to be working well with those sites which failed on Shiira before so I'm looking forward to the release version.

I love Shiira 2.0. It is just a preview though, so many promised features are not included as of the current (public) beta.

Shiira is more customizable than Safari, and...most other browsers I can think of. Although the included interfaces are sex (which is good).
