Well after picking up the M4 iPad Pro 13" At my local Apple Store I began looking for a lighter weight messenger style bag. Unfortunately with a shoulder injury I have to look for something a little lighter than canvas. That is where this X-Pac nylon version of Waterfield Design's Shinjuku comes into play. Waterfield of course offers it in waxed canvas. But that is heavier than this nylon version. It is back ordered until the end of this month. So I'll report back when I get it.

And no I have no affiliation with Waterfield Designs just a returning customer, FYI. I'd be interested to learn if there are other brands/models to look at for M4 iPad Pro lovers! ;)

It’s a nice looking bag. I’d really like to know if the iPad Pro 13 and Magic Keyboard will fit in the compact version of the bag. The large bag takes up to a Macbook Pro 16” and I don’t need something that big.

I did consult Waterfield Designs before purchase. And they recommended the large one. Which is too bad. But I did purchase it due to promised lower weight vs. my older, canvas Waterfield bag. Which I still love!

I also had previously ordered and received their Relay bag. I found the top zipper too small to easily put it in and pull it out of the bag With Magic Keyboard. They suggested to angle the iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard. I didn’t try it as I thought that maneuver would be too slow/awkward.

i have another question in to them a about Essential Crossbody. Very minimal. Asked what size for the iPad Pro w/Magic Keyboard.

Update:

After some thought I reluctantly cancelled the order. I think the bag is just too big for my purposes. I'm going to re-explore the rest of their line.

I'll be curious to know your impressions of the Shinjuku Messenger, I've been eyeing it too. I may end up going for the Sutter Tech Sling, though... Hard to choose.

Aww I must say.. you guys have great taste! This is such a cool bag! Thanks for mentioning in here. I'm considering getting one for myself!

I really like the looks of the Sutter. Unfortunately for me it looks like the shoulder strap might be limited to using the right shoulder from the pictures. With my right shoulder injury I have to use my left shoulder.

I will definitely let everyone know how the Shinjuku Messenger works out. I do wish the smaller size would have accommodated the iPad Pro 13" with the Magic Keyboard.

Good bag hunting all!

It actually could've gone on either shoulder!
  • "Flexible strap options - strap attaches to D-ring on left or right side of wearing over either shoulder."
That's where I was at with the Shinjuku, too.. Originally thought I was going for the 13" this year, and was disappointed that the full-size looks so... full-size! But now that I'm going 11" I could go for the compact version of either of those bags.

What I really wanted was their Trigo Sling, which they've created as a Limited Edition on a few occassions. Unfortunately that one isn't available right now.

Update on Sinjuku Bag order. In the end I decided to cancel the order on the Sinjuku. As nice as its design looks I thought the Essential Crossbody Bag from Waterfield might meet my day trip needs better due to a more compact size.

The Essential Crossbody did just arrived today, and I have to say I'm very pleased with the style, build, quality and utility of this compact bag. I'll give it a field trip soon and let you all know how it works out.

I do have a couple of full sized, older, Waterfield Messenger bags. So I do have the ability to carry more gear if I need to.

Note my M4 13" iPad Pro fits in the inner pocket nicely with either the Apple folio or the Apple Magic Keyboard. The famous yellowish interior makes items easy to locate. Interior and exterior pocket sizes are, for me, good enough for days trips. The shoulder strap is wide enough to be comfortable and easily adjusts in length while wearing the bag.

Any other bag geeks out there? What have you found for the 13" M4 iPad Pro? You can never have too many bags or Apple products! :p:cool:

Reach out to Waterfield via their website. I always get fast and accurate answers. As you can tell from my previous postings I'm a big fan. Yes, and I do buy their products. :)
