I chose the ship to store option. My order states, 'available the 16th'. Now I see a flood of orders that were already delivered for folks that shipped to their house or work.

Anyone else choose 'ship to store' in the U.S.? For those people, has anyone received their laptop yet?

Nope, mine still says the same. Available April 16. Idk why I chose to do a store pickup.. Probably wasn't thinking straight in my half awake state when I ordered haha.

When I ordered 'ship to store' I was thinking... well, the Apple store on 5th Avenue in NYC is huge.. I'm sure they'll get a fast shipment. Now I don't feel so clever!

I made that mistake also of shipping to the store. I was like well the store is likely to get them before anyone else. Who knew Apple was going to artificially block people from picking up their MacBooks. You'd think they'd want to get people into the store to check out the watch by making people do the in store pick up and then getting them to at least try on the watch while they wait for someone to get the MacBook out of the back.

I am in the same boat. My pick up is on the 16th. I have never done store pick up before. My initial reasoning was that no one would be home to sign for the package and a number of people from my office are out on vacation this week. So, I assumed shipping it to the store made more sense.

However, now looking back I should have just had it shipped to my office and made sure I was there to sign for it (if possible). I'll never do store pick up again, I can easily have the package at the HUD for pick up.

My only wish now is I can pick it up tomorrow, Thursday, in the morning when the store opens because I live near the store but work on the other side of town.

You guys think you made mistakes? Many of us figured we would just sneak into the store the next day, and quietly buy one while all the masses were wrestling over watches

I thought the same. I went to the store last Friday when they opened assuming I would purchase one. Once I realized only a few stores even had demos in the USA I knew there was a production problem so I went online and ordered it.

That is kinda what I figured. Instead Apple was having none of that. I don't believe there was a production problem. I actually think it is internal policy because the store I was out told me they had them in the back they just weren't available for sale.

Well, I ordered at 2:01, right when they became available, so if I would have just shipped to my house I would have it, so it was a mistake. Never doing store pickup again. They shipped to everyone else and Best Buy before the Apple Stores for some reason.

I still believe it was a production issue because if it was more of policy all Apple stores would at least have demos. From the list it seems at least 50% of stores in the USA had nothing and (seemingly) no stores overseas had demos. That is very telling.

It's one thing to not have inventory for sale. It's another when over 50% of your stores don't even have demo machines. To me that shows Apple had issues producing the machine on time and decided to only stock demo machines to certain stores. And, of course USA stores in major markets take priority

True that is a good point. Apple probably should've made sure they had demo units available when they announced the MacBook.

Same here

I didn't think I made a mistake, though, as I believed I would walk in on the 10th and pick that beauty up on my way to work. Won't do that again.

Here's hoping they get a shipment today and I get the pickup notification email.:mad:

Just went to the Michigan Ave store hoping they got the shipment in early. Nada. But I played with one for a bit. Can't wait till tomorrow!

If you call the store number it goes to a system that tries to send you to their call center. However, after their message just say "Store Manager". The system directs you to the store that you're calling to. Much easier than going there.

It was on my way walking home and the store was empty so I figured I'd pop in just in case. I also wanted to try it out and finally see the watch in person.

Thanks for the info though! Will definitely keep that in mind for the future :)

I recommend you guys all call Apple. I am in the same boat and called last night. The first rep I spoke to told me my device hadnt shipped and it likely wouldnt be there by the 16th.

So I called back and did the automated lookup thing which told me it was already in transit. Asked to speak to a second rep and explained the situation. She gave me a fed ex tracking number in about 10 seconds. She said ship to store generally does not provide the user with tracking.

Mine just cleared customs last night and has been sitting in Oakland, CA. Hoping it makes it here tomorrow. I was going to take a 1/2 day at work but it says delivery by 4:30 in the afternoon. I generally get off at 4:00.

I will never choose ship to store again. I selected that because my hope was if they received some early they would fill my order. I almost feel like we're being penalized for ordering early and choosing to ship to a store. Meanwhile, best buy locations around me have stock.

You're awesome. Thanks for this post. I just called Apple and the rep gave me the tracking number and my order is the same as yours. It cleared customs last night and is in transit. It's suppose to be in DC by tomorrow 4:30pm. I was hoping it would arrive tonight so I could pick it up tomorrow morning. Well, this is certainly the last time I will have an item shipped to the store. I did not realize it was more complicated.

Very cool. I got my tracking information as well. Same scenario. Looks like they are on track for delivery by tomorrow at 4:30 PM. Looks like the laptop spent 2 days in China hanging out at a local FedEx facility and not being transported.

Thanks, did the same thing. Guess they are chilling in Oakland and shipping out to our locations tonight, wish they would have done it last night, but it is just one more day. Guess Apple didn't pay for expedited shipping.

My experience with iPhone launch was very different. It was better to ship it to the store. I was able to get in and out in 5 minutes.

With the iPhone I used to have it held at the UPS hub because it was only a 5 minute drive from my home. However, with the iPhone 6 Apple did not allow the phone to be held at the hub. I just stayed home to sign for it. Typically, I send everything to my office. But, depending on the month/week we have personnel out of the office.

I don't mind waiting a day or two. However, waiting a week for a device when I ordered it six hours after "launch" is a little crazy. Oh well, I'll simply enjoy using it tomorrow :)
