    Hi

Does anyone know of a reputable supplier in the USA who will legally ship Adobe CS3 Design Standard (full version) to me in the UK?

By legally, I mean I will pay the 17.5% VAT that will be levied at UK customs. I will still save £272 (US$563) compared to buying it in the UK (minus shipping costs).

Amazon.com (USA) won't ship the product to the UK due to "geographical restrictions".

Also, would I have any problem activating/installing the software on my UK MBP?

    Cheers for any help
    SL

Small print: I don't know anyone in the USA, and of course I don't have a US credit card. My calculations are based upon amazon.com's tax exclusive prices and amazon.co.uk VAT-inclusive prices, and today's exchange rate of 2.0619. My UK credit card doesn't surcharge for foreign currency transactions and gives me a reasonable exchange rate.

You'll first have to pay customs (about 5-10% depending on how they read the rule book) and after that they calculate VAT. This means $100 shipment has $110 customs value and $130 total value. This means total cost is not 17.5% but rather close to 30%, if that affects to your decision...

Are you talking about UK Customs Duty here, or some other charge?

If you're talking about duty, then it's between 0% and about 22% (or possibly higher) depending on the goods being imported. But for computer software, AFAIK it's 0%.

So as I understand it, I'd just be paying the 17.5% VAT.

Try www.usabox.com or www.myus.com for shipping legitimately from the US to the UK.
To check whether your purchase will attract import duty go to www.uktradeinfo.com or call the Tariff Classification Service on 01702 366077. Not all purchases will attract the import duty - laptops are exempt and so are some types of camera, for example. You will be liable for vat of course. The exchange rate is very favourable at the moment, so couple that with the usual premium US suppliers add to products sold here you should win.
This would also work for a MBP incidentally - at the moment you would save nearly £200!
