My friend was going to buy a Mac Mini, however when I signed on to the Apple store this morning to place the order for him I noticed the estimated ship time is now 3-4 Weeks rather than "Janurary 22nd". Apparently, they must be selling very well to have exceeded their planned supply so quickly.

The iPod Shuffles are also taking 2-3 weeks to arrive.

This seems to be an early indicator of the sucess of these products. I'm excited, these could really take off...

Conversely, I fear that my ship date might slip... currently, it says 'on or before 1/21'. Got my order in about 2 hours after the Mac mini was announced. :)

I order mine (shuffle) when it was anounced (well late at night on tuesday) and it shipped on thursday and I got it on Saturday (then girlfriend took it one hour later, haven't seen it since :( ). So I'm gussing it shouldn't be "that" bad. I know Apple likes to produce and collect lots of iPods before they ship, but then again, I think a lot might have been ordered.

Do you live near an Apple store? They always give priority to their Apple stores. I had to drive across the border to buy an iPod mini last April, when it wasn't scheduled to begin shipping until the late July timeframe up in Canada.

Yea, there is an Apple store about 25 minutes from here. I didn't order it through there, though, as I figured since we were making some modifications to the specs (512 RAM and a Superdrive) that the Apple Store wouldn't be able to expedite it any faster than Apple's online store would.

I hope my ship date for my order of iLife '05 and iWork doesn't slip from "On or before 1/21/2005". At least it's software and not hardware...it seems Apple has more trouble shipping hardware on time.

When Apple has quoted a "deliverd by" time for just announced software, they tend to meet that target. (Of course weather issues could slow down delivery.)

I've never seen that before - but thanks for the reassurance. I look forward to the day it arrives.

At thevery least, they've done it for both previous versions of iLife, Panther, and I believe Jaguar. I think they may have done it for some other software. Of course both iLife'05 and iWork'05 have (or had) the delivery by the 22nd offer.

Final Cut Express HD they just gave a shipping window for.

I didn't order any of those things through the Apple online store, if at all - that's probably why. iLife+iWork is the first Apple software I've ever ordered from Apple's online store.

I live near An Apple Store, a Microcenter, and an Authorized Apple Specialist service center. All three stores seem to have no trouble getting stock. I remember recently when the Dual 2.5s and GeForce 6800 Ultras were causing so many delays, between the three stores there was always at least one or two available. BTO is what usually suffers the delays.

My brother ordered a Mac mini about 3 hours after the Keynote, and we are still scheduled to ship 1/21. The second batch is in the 3-4 week range.

The best thing to do, if you don't want to wait is to call around all the Apple store to see if they've gotten a shipment recently. That's how I got my iPod mini way before thedy were supposed to ship from the online store. The retail stores will hold the product for you for a day or so. Of course, if you don't live near an Apple store, you're SOL.
