Has anyone been having issues with Apple and/or UPS shipping their iPad Pro?

I ordered my iPad Pro the morning of Wednesday, November 11. Because it was in the morning and not after midnight, I missed out on the chance to have it shipped and at my door the following week. Instead the projected arrival was for 11/25 (today) to 11/30. Then Apple had my iPad shipped on November 18 at about 4 am PST. According to UPS tracking, it then arrived in and departed Dubai the next day on 11/19. And then nothing. It was effectively off-grid for FIVE DAYS! I have never seen a package from anyone off-grid for so long. Then, yesterday morning, a day after UPS's original delivery estimate, I finally got the following from the UPS tracking #:

Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong 11/24/2015 1:06 P.M. Pkg shipped; delivery being scheduled
11/24/2015 1:03 P.M. Your package is in transit. We're updating plans to schedule your delivery.
It basically went back to Hong Kong! Apple's Order status page just said "Shipping Issue - Contact Apple." When I called yesterday, the gentleman on the phone said something about increased security requirements and that the package had to be returned to the country of origin (in this case China). Now, after nearly two days, the UPS tracking info hasn't changed. My iPad Pro appears to be languishing in Hong Kong for WTFK how long! I also just got the email below from Apple today:

We're experiencing a delivery delay.
We’re contacting you to let you know your package may arrive later than expected. We apologize, and we’re working hard to ensure you receive your items as soon as possible.

Visit Order Status and view your tracking information for updates about your shipment.

Has anyone else received this notice or had the above issue with their shipment? If so, did you contact Apple or UPS to find out what's going on? What did they say?

Thanks.

I ordered two iPad Pros after the first wave (I actually ordered at midnight then cancelled, then ordered again). The carrier was FedEx and the tracking email said the 25th. Apple email said the 30th via next day. Apple website said the 27th via 2-3 days. FedEx tracking website said the 1st up until I was signing for the delivery this morning on the 25th. Go figure.

Yes, but in my case, there is no scheduled delivery. It just says "delivery being rescheduled" and "Scheduled delivery information is not available at this time. Please check back later." The status bar at the top went from the green "in transit" to yellow "rescheduled delivery." It's been that way for over 2 days now and I fear it will be like that for a very long while. At this point, I'd be very surprised if it showed up tomorrow.

Mine did the same, the first round of US based checks were "assumptions" made by UPS but it never left China. Now finally the second round of updates is happening and it's in Anchorage at the moment. So we'll see if it actually gets delivered or not.

How long was it before you got the second round of updates? In my case, the "first round" only got as far as Dubai, languished for 5 days before showing up as back in Hong Kong.

3 days, but it was "falsely" claimed to be in the states for another 4 days. So I had a total of 7 days till I saw real movement again that hopefully is right. It's on its way to KY now.

Well, I finally got some movement yesterday. It left Hong Kong, went through Taiwan and landed in Anchorage yesterday. After that, it made its way to KY this morning before finally arriving in California. Now it's sitting at the local hub so I expect/hope that it will go out for delivery on Monday (that's also the current delivery estimate).

I'd still really like to know what the whole fiasco was about and what it was doing in Dubai before being sent back to HK (if that is indeed what happened).
