Shipping your iMac in Europe?

Has anyone shipped their iMac to somewhere before? I still have the original boxes and packaging that Apple used, and my plan was to send it from Austria to Croatia, where I'll spend a month on summer vacation. My wife is already there so I would send it to her.

My question is basically how safe is it? I don't have the Apple Care+ for my iMac, just the 1 year extended warranty. Should I be worried?

Or should I just sell it and buy a Macbook Pro 13 inch, which is much more portable?

Using the original packaging - I still have mine - I would not hesitate to ship the iMac, of course using a reputable insured service.

Unless you really expect to do a lot of travelling a sale of the iMac doesn't sound a good plan to me.
