I've had a problem in iOS 10 ever since iOS 10 dropped. When I shoot RAW images (no matter what app) when I view them in the Photos app they are horribly pixelated. When I open the file on a Mac with Preview, it looks fine.

I took a screenshot to show what it looks like just opening it in the photos app.

Can iOS 10’s photos app just not view RAW?

I believe iOS Photos (we're talking on the phone, right? not a Mac?) uses a JPEG produced from the RAW by iOS at import. The file you uploaded is tiny; at 100% in Photos on my Mac it's just a little bit bigger than an icon, and so I expect it would be smallish even on an iPhone screen, and if it's set to fit in the available space it could look pixellated.

And what apps are you using to shoot RAW on the iPhone? I'd guess maybe they aren't producing a decent DNG, so that maybe Photos is just showing you an embedded preview. But just a wild guess. Best if you could post up the RAW itself from the iPhone.

I use third-party apps to shoot 11-13mb DMG files. When views using Preview in the Mac they look decent. I don't use Photos on Mac.

On the iPhone, every DMG appears very pixelated like a blown up thumbnail except for certain apps like Snap Seed for LR. I do t shoot RAW+JOEG because I don't need the JPEG. I guess ios Photo's Camera Roll just doesn't render the actual photos.

The actual photo is too large to upload. What uploaded was an iPad screenshot of what I see when I tap thr DNG file in camera rolls.
