So in short, these are some of the worst sounding bluetooth headphones I've ever used. I use a $15 pair of EasyACC EP2 headphones that sound 10x better in the mid range. Beats sound as if the mid range doesn't exist. It has terribly overblown treble and bass and the sound falls flat in any sort of depth.

All in all, a complete waste of money and I recommend you steer clear if pleasant sounding audio is of any importance to you.

Wow, so happy I did not buy.

Are there any good, affordable headphones that charge with a Lightning cable? I really prefer not to carry multiple wires when I travel.

Completely agree. Terrible headphones and worse than another pair I own which were only £30. Regret buying and a complete waste of money.

Lightning cable is limited to W1 enabled headphones which is basically Beats and Airpods.

I have both BeatsX and AirPods. The soundstage is significantly better on AirPods. I agree with @oplix, the mid range seems to be barely there, shrouded by the overblown tremble & bass. I did find that by changing to Comply foam tips and adjusting the EQ, sound quality of BeatsX significantly improved, though still not enough to make me want to keep them. I will be returning these in hopes of finding another set for air travel when I need noise isolation. I don't think they're horrible, but I expect a lot more even at the sale price I paid of $109.

The best features of BeatsX I have found are passive noise isolation due to in canal fit, W1 Chip and lightning cable. From that perspective they're a great choice if those things are more important than a quality soundstage.

I think you may have a point here. I never tried on airpods, but I highly doubt they can isolate noise as they do not have such tips. Considering the Beats X also go on sale all the time, I am going to give them a second look. I primarily use headphones while I travel, and really need to have noise isolation over anything else as I get terrible headaches listening to the droning of the airplane engines.

For comparison sake, if you were to use standard issue EarPods, you'd experience a very similar if not identical noise isolation performance (or lack there of) as you'd get with AirPods. Why I like the AirPods is that I can use them for home office calls (call quality is very good) and they're perfect for listening to music in an airport terminal. Once I get on a plane, I like you, want noise isolation and AirPods won't cut it. As a side note, sometimes the drone of the engines is welcome by comparison to noise from some of the passengers :)

BeatsX are trash and a waste of money

For those of you who have time to get on with Apple and replace your headphones every 2 months, they'll be just fine―on with Apple Support trying to get a full refund since my 3rd pair is now broken

On the contrary I picked up a like new pair from these forums marketplace for $40 shipped. I feel like they provide a comfortable fit and have excellent rich sound and superior noise isolation. The convenience of lightning cable charging and the w1 chip is just a bonus IMO.

They are just objectively bad sounding headphones.
