Basically, I'll be getting a Mac Pro soon. I have some interest in getting a thunderbolt display, or, rather, whatever the next iteration is. Maybe that will be announced on 9/9, maybe it won't.

Regardless, does anyone have any advice for a display to use for a short while (say, a month to two, tops) until I settle on a better option? Something cheap and simple, preferably.

I do currently have an Apple TV, so I could just use my television set, I suppose. If I do that, is there a way to be projecting right to the television from the get-go, or will I have to have the computer up and running first?

From this side of the pond, the following are the cheapest 27 inch displays with 2560x1440 resolution and display port:

AOC Q2770PQU
Asus PB278Q
then the Dell U2713HM
then the ViewSonic VP2770-LED

then the HP displays, then some more Dell and the rest.

All of the above are very good displays and should carry you through the time until the "4K-dust" has settled.
Some of them have reviews on http://www.prad.de
(Though some of the reviews only seem to be available in German).
Checking ebay.com, I get better prices from local chains here than the prices at ebay...
