Waiting for the new one. About to move house, working from home more often now so want a desktop Mac. Would LOVE the 27" to be "Retina" spec but I doubt it, that would be a 4K screen which would ramp the cost up significantly.

Yes!!! Finally some iMac rumors. I believe!!!!
Why the 21'5" is still in stock I suspect is because it sells more than the 27" and new iMac won't come for yet a few weeks. And since apple precision stock planning there are more available now because it will then meet the zero stock simultaneously as the 27".

Not that I personally see any point of the 21,5" I guess many do. Why buy small when you can get a bigger one? ;)

Agreed, I'm looking at getting an iMac but the 27" is waaaaay to much for me in terms of screen size. 21.5" is perfect for my needs.

As someone who purchased six years ago, the white pizza box iMac with first Intel chip my only option was the 20" or was it 21"? Anyway, as usual, thanks to Apple's secrecy and failure of the rumor sites to 'enlighten' us of the possibility, a 24" white iMac was released. Darn it! Well purchased a 24" six months after buying my 20" and never went back to the 20". It is parked in reserve for emergency operations. Now the 24" screen seems small when I work on InDesign projects. So 27" for me at least? Can never have too much screen real estate!

OK, lets assume it won't have a Superdrive, and lets hope it uses similar techniques as the Retina MBP with its screen. With these in mind, I wonder how much thinner the iMac could get? Maybe we will get a redesign, it's been years.

I'd love them to drop the chin if possible.

Absolutely. Used to 27" and 32" monitors at work so an iMac at home of 27" would be rad :d

let the nagging begin

Well, let's keep it in perspective... At least isn't as long of a wait as the Mac Pro's.

Apple has pretty much given the desktop line low priority and low R&D investment/ tooling for new products.

Just facts, not nagging.

Still questions remain:
Will it have a matte screen option?
Will people be allowed to add/change hard drives and memory?
USB 3?
Touchscreen?
Will it have a DVD/cd drive? (people have given up on blu-ray drives)

Someone I know was trying to buy one the other day for a client and bought the 21'' by accident :p
Since I don't have the money for a 27'' (or any new iMac really) it doesn't really affect me. But that stinks for those who want to purchase it on a timeline...

Yay! I've been killing for this kind of news. Even if there are no plans until at least a month from now, I just want to SEE an update.

In my country (Portugal), at the store's site, the availability of every iMacs is still untouched.

Would this be the appropriate place to start a flamewar over the need for a 24" iMac?

the 21"Retina iMac is obvious, Sharp spotted its LCD panel months ago (a 4k2K).

But different luck for 27", rans same luck of the MBP17 no update for this size.

iMac 21 Retina also Supossed to have Gforce 650M and 680M as discrete video option, and still have CD/DVD drive, plus the obvious USB3, etc.

I'm not sure how accurate this is. 2 weeks ago I wanted to buy a 27 inch iMac in store so I looked online first to see which store near me had one; they all said August 27 as the available date. I go to the Pentagon City store and they say they have "several" in stock and I walked out with one on 5 minutes.

Delaying an updated iMacs for 2013 wouldn't be wise, considering the fact that every major PC manufacturer is going to offer a new shiny AIO desktops in a coming 2-3 moths. So far I've read about LG, Acer, HP, Samsung - both touch screens and standard configurations. Shittty or not, win8 is going to sell a lot of desktops this fall.
But hey, this is Apple, who knows?!
