I use it for a few things. I have it switch the Watch face on my Apple Watch at night and in the morning, so that it displays large numbers at night (I don't wear my glasses when I sleep, so big numbers are the order of the day), then switching back to my daytime watch face in the morning.

I also have one for turning the lamp in the hall on when it gets dark and off again after we go to be, and the reverse in the morning, turning it on half an hour before we usually get up and turning it off when it gets light.
You can also use Focus Modes for that. Like, if the focus is Sleep, change the Apple Watch face. I do that with 5 Focus Modes I use.

My favorite shortcut: "Turn page in book" linked to the double tap on the back of the iphone ❤️

Have to use and see. If it is implemented properly, it can be very useful. Shortcuts app is a nice addition to iOS.

What functionality is missing (and compared to what) to me it has some intents that I wish would exist in various apps but for the most part I cans find a product on the market in android or iOS that’s better even though I love seeing shortcuts improve.

I also wish shortcuts can do more things in background.
I have a lot of home automation and just simple things like being able to combine more than one trigger to activate an automation would be brilliant. For example, I have motion sensors and smart lights. I'd like to enable the lights tomorrow switch on if the room detects motion and the ambient light is low - meaning I'm in the room and it is dark. Right now, I'm only able to action on teh ambient sensor or motion but not both.

I have a HomePod 2 in my bedroom and in the living room but the shortcut I have programmed to start the news on the radio will only allow me to AirPlay it to one speaker.

I'd also like to trigger more actions when I set a Scene like switch off motion sensors in the living room while I'm watching a movie. Right now I set a "Lets Chill" scene that drops the lights to 25% warm light but as soon as I move the sensors switch the lights back on to their original bright setting. Hue are trialling a Do Not Disturb feature on their motion sensors meaning if the lights are already on, don't change anything but I'm just using this to show another area where I think shortcuts is lacking.

Shortcuts just needs some love to get to where it needs to be. Right now, it's kind of limping along.

Brilliant yes that would be great.

A simple "If a light is Off then turn it On" and vice versa. Basically a toggle. On iOS and iPadOS it works. On macOS it stopped working when Sequoia was released.
Ok, now for the first time I have an if-clause problem, too: Maybe it's the same.

I converted an home automation in a shortcut. The shotcut reads a value from sensor in my home. If the value is 1 then it should cause an action in my home. This shortcut doesn't work with some strange error message. I don't remember its text but it was something like "Something is wrong".

I tried different things and in the end I realized, that the existence of the if-clause in the shortcut is enough to break things. Both branches of the if-clause are empty. If I control the actors unconditionally the shortcuts works. But what is the sense of sensors when you can not use if-clauses to check their values.

The shortcut works perfectly when run in the Shortcuts app. But there I don't have a trigger when a physical switch is used.

This is ridiculous.

Edit: Typos and words

Could anybody running iOS 26 Beta confirm if there is finally an element to run Visual Intelligence from within the Shortcuts App? This feature is still missing on iOS 18.

I've configured my action button to show me a folder full of different shortcuts but for Visual Intelligence I still have to use the command center, which is quite annoying.
