Hey not sure if this is right place...

But how do I set a shortcut to play music on HomePod not my iPhone...?

My routine is:

Set lights

-

Set Volume

-

Play music (plays on phone, I need on HomePod)

-

I was just telling a friend that for a while I could tell Siri on my phone to connect to HomePod and it would. I thought maybe I could have the shortcut wait for input "Connect to HomePod" then have it move on to the playlist. Now however I cannot get Siri to connect to the HomePod not matter what phrase I use. Still trying though. I feel like there is no reason why your playlist cannot exist in the cloud so that the HomePod can play it using shortcuts but I'm not an engineer what do I know.

There is a huge opportunity with Shortcuts app and there is a lot to learn.. i havent figured this out either. The possibilities are endless but only with the correct support.

I figured out why it wasn't working. I had renamed it "Kitchen". Once I put it back to Living Room it will let me use Siri to connect. In Shortcuts however the Siri input is to wait for speech to convert to text. I thought maybe it would just let you issue a command.

Apple is well known for trickling out features like you and I want so maybe with an update we'll be able to. It would be great to come home and say "I'm home" and do all the HomeKit stuff and play selected music.

I, trying to figure out how to use the shortcuts app to play music from my iPhone iTunes playlist on my HomePod. I cannot find a way to do this without having to tell Siri “play this on my homepod”. Do you guys know what line/variable to use on the shortcuts app to do this?

I don't think there is at this point. Like I said before first I tell Siri to connect to HomePod then I run the shortcut. I think it should be part of the functionality and when I took a survey about my HomePod recently I mentioned that.
