Hello, what are the shortcuts for typing up, down, left and right arrow symbols in Word for Mac? I tried several methods posted on the net but none is working.

I generally use the Character Viewer arrows. i leave it on the menu bar on my Macs, System Prefs > Keyboard > Show keyboard and Emoji viewers in menu bar. Also useful for a host of other characters and symbols.

Alternately, Word has a way to create keyboard shortcuts for symbols. In a word doc, choose the insert tab > Advanced Symbol and select the arrow, then click the Keyboard shortcut button and press whatever keys you want to assign to insert that character.

Thank you. I right-click and pasted but all the information about the symbol got pasted. What is the proper way to copy and paste a symbol?

→ ➔ From the character map, double click the icon you wish to insert. Make sure the cursor is in the place you want to insert the character.
