When I plug the power cable into the USB ports on the right hand side of my MacBook Pro, there's an audible and satisfying *click*. But the USB ports on the left hand side don't do this. The power cable just smoothly slides in and there's no click, or feeling that it's *connected* if you get what I mean.

Does anyone know if this is by design or is it an issue with my MacBook?

It's absolutely fine. The ports become quieter over time as the connectors on the ports and the cable you are using bed in.
