All of you are forgetting one major factor and its the one that decides everything.......Steve Jobs gets money under the table from the Department of Odd Numbers or "DON" for short. This is why all the laptops have odd number screen sizes.:D:D

Then, after Apple builds the 14", what will people do who think the 14" is too small and 15" too big? Huh? Maybe a 14.5"? And then 14.75"? This is a great idea.

Adding a 14" MBP to the lineup would be rather pointless as the small difference between it and the 13" and 15" would be kind of redundant.

Replacing both the 13" and 15" for a 14" would be an absolutely horrible decision. Not only does that take options away from consumers, but the size difference between a 14" and 17" is very large.

I could see replacing only the 13" MBP with a 14" MBP though. As it is, there aren't a lot of differences between the MB and the 13" MBP. Using a 14" chassis, while sacrificing a small amount of portability, may leave Apple enough room to include a dedicated graphics card and bring the small MBP up to speed with it's larger siblings.

I honestly don't see Apple doing this anytime soon though.

lol like I mentioned earlier I actually think a 14" mbp is a good idea. pro line can have 14 and 17 and air line can have 11 and 13 and white mb could just die.

I doubt apple would actually go this direction but if they did everyone, including the people complaining, would praise the hell out of it and run to the nearest apple store to pick up a 14" mbp. it's uncool until apple does it

How is offering 2 different sizes that are 3" apart superior to offering 3 different sizes that are 2" apart. Your model for the lineup is vastly inferior.

Consumers going from a 15" to a 14" will be thinking "great now I lost screen real estate."

Consumers going from a 13" to a 14" will be thinking "great now my portability is diminished."

People using a 15" likely don't care as much about how portable their computer is and people using a 13" likely greatly value portability. Apple would be doing a disservice to both of these market segments. Fewer options is rarely, if ever, better than more options.

13" is perfect. If I was going to get a 14" I'd just go for a 15". But 15" is too big. 13" is perfect. No 14". Never. Won't be one. They already have enough different sizes.

I always have to laugh when people say things like "Oh 13inch is perfect, I mean, try carrying a 15inch MBP around, it's waaaay to big/heavy" ..

My current laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720..17inch and 4 KILOGRAMS! :p I drag it to school every weekday..
Surprisingly enough, almost everyone in my class who brings their laptop to school, owns a 17inch pc laptop..

I'm going to buy a 15inch MBP this year, it's perfect imo ^^ No need for 14inch
Well I'm biased because I almost traded in for a MacBook air and I had an iPad first so...

Whats the 15" 4 lbs at the most? Go lift some weights...

I dead lift 300lbs so that's not the issue. Let me put it this way, would you want to romantically carry your 120lbs girlfriend up a flight of stairs or your thick 300lbs girlfriend. The smaller the better for me at least....

With emergence of ultra-light notebooks, it is quite possible that 15" and 17" notebooks will eventually go the way of dinosaurs and woolly mammoths.

Sorry. Some of us utilize the extra real estate (15/17) and desktop-like expandability (17" w/ expresscard) that the larger models offer.

If I had to carry a 15" or 17" Laptop around anywhere other than my couch to my desk I wouldn't be a happy camper.

lol because the 1 lb and 2.1 lb increase of the 15" and 17" respectively is serious business.

I lift the 17" MBP with one hand  I must be chuck norris.

Kill white macbook

Only have:
11" air
13" air
14" pro
17" pro

I love it. Would buy a 14" mbp in a heartbeat.

That would cut out their best selling computer, the 13" MBP. Plus, I don't want a 17" computer, and if they wanted 1680x1050, that would just hurt on a 14" screen. Definitely would hurt sales.

This guy is a dick.

The 13" is 4.5lbs, 15" is 5.6, 17" is 6.6. If 1 pound is keeping you from the benefits of the next size up and just kills you to carry around, then you need to get out of your house and go do something because you are very weak person. Also, contributing nothing to the thread helps.

Also it appears you post a lot of questions without searching...Sandy Bridge, iPod hacks/jailbreak, superdrive and you have been here longer than me. You would think you would learn how to use the forum search or mroogle by now.
