Should I add RAM for ML?

I've got a mid 2009 C2 Duo w/2 GB RAM. Stock specs. I'm running Lion now, and I must say it's nice, though slower than SL was, at least for me.
When I moved to Lion I had some issues with speed, battery life, corrupted data, etc...Eventually had to wipe and do a clean install.
I'm wondering if ML will improve my experience without upgrading RAM, or should I go ahead and slip some more in? 4 maybe?
    Clean install, or straight upgrade?
Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies. I guess 2 GB is enough according to Apple. I'd feel better with 4, though I really could use the iWork in the cloud. RAM really isn't expensive, I'm just a virgin when it comes to opening up the laptop. Never done it before. I saw the videos on how to do it. Looks easy-peasy.
Maybe I'll see how it works now, and do the RAM later if I need it.

You should add RAM for you! I would personally suggest 8GB, because it tends to run around $20 more than 4GB. More RAM never hurts...

Gotcha! I have a Time Capsule running 24/7, plus a LaCie I use every week, so I'm set there.

And Macid1993, you're right. While I'm at it, 8 isn't a bad idea. Might as well.
Thank you all for your input.
Is there a RAM brand you prefer for my model?

Ordered the 8 GB from OWC. I'm confident it'll be a snap. :)

It should run way smoother. 4GBs is a bit tight on mine, however the GPU acceleration is compensates for that. Your C2D will need all the memory it can get.
