I did, and the primary reason is that there's no data on how durable the touch bar is going to be over time. as an OLED display it's potentially vulnerable to. burn in.

If you're going to have the machine for at least 3 years, it's definitely worth the peace of mind to Apple Care it.

Gen 1 product that has a largely unproven component (touch bar), I'd say its something that you should get. Check out Amazon, and B&H Video, both of them have decent discounts on AC
 
Get your MBP + AC from Adorama. They have decent discounts atm. I got my maxed out system from them (plus no tax outside NY), so a decent savings all told.

As for the CPU debate, I'm the one that found my 2.9 not turbo-ing especially well, so perhaps you could post your CPU results in the thread I made on that topic once you've got yours? Good luck and enjoy the new system!
