If you're only going to be using your laptop computer for web browsing and general use, don't get a Macbook Pro. It's honestly a waste of money and potential. The 13" is overpriced as it's a pretty underpowered machine ($1200 for a dual-core and integrated graphics? No thanks). The 15" is really the only fair-priced machine and that's with the student discount.

Those are reasons why are shouldn't get one. What are the reasons for getting one?! BTW, i'm no student. I'm at the stage of my life where my use of laptops and computing can be highly variable and interests can develop if you see what i mean.

I have looked at Ultrabooks. Most are 13 inch machines that are just as expensive as the 13 inch macs. The decision is more top-end $800 - $1000 PC laptop or $1200 to $1500 mac/ultrabook.

I would look at a refurb. 15in or a 2012 MBA 13in. depending on if the screen size is something you can't live without. The new MBA should do everything you want.
