Should I buy a MBA 13 Ultimate?

Right, current scenario, I own a (Late 2008) MacBook alu unibody, purchased in March 2009:

    C2D 2.0Ghz; 4GB 1066 DDR3 RAM, 160GB HDD, 9400M GPU. 8 months Applecare remaining.

I use it a lot, 4-5 hours a day, for a mixture of the following:

    - Internet / music / photos
    - Working from home (Word / Excel / PPT)
    - Football Manager (it's an English thing, processor intensive game)
    - Video (though rarely HD)
    - Occasional DVD encoding (I already have an external DVD-R)

I really love the look of the MBA, so much so I'm thinking about buying one. My plan would be to keep it approx 3 years, as my main PC (I do have a Windows 7 PC for gaming)

To help fund my purchase, I would sell my Macbook (though no idea what it's worth) and my Intel 320 SSD.

Does it sound like it would be a worthwhile purchase for me? Or, for whatever reason, should I leave it a few months/year?

You probably don't need the MBA but if you want one and have the $, then why not. It should be a decent upgrade from your MacBook.

That, or buy a 13" MBP and replace the HDD with Intel 320 you were planning on selling. Or if you do go with the 13" MBA, I think the base model would be plenty (1.7 .. 2.7 GHz, 4 GB, 128 GB).

I say go for it :D

For what you use it for, the Air should work really well. Plus they are just so sexy!

    Good luck with your decision.

I'm from Denmark and I also play a bit of Football Manager :D

I'd say say you don't NEED it, but maybe you just GOT to have it - so why not, if you can raise the funds for it :p

    I have the old 2010 MBA 13 - and I'm contemplating whether to go for a 2011 MBA 13 Ultimate or a 2011 MBA 11 Ultimate.

My only concern with the MBA 11 ultimate is battery life, since I need 4 hours on one charge every day, Monday to Friday.

The MBA is a fully fledged computer and will do everything you ask of it. It is just not quite as powerful as the MBP, which is the computer to buy if you need extra processing power for stuff such as extensive graphics work.

I have had a MBP (and loved it) and last September, bought a MBA which is now my sole computer.

However, for your stated needs, I'd imagine that the MBA ultimate will more than adequately do what you want. Best of luck with it.
