Since I currently have the AirPods Pro 1 but one AirPod has the crackling/static noise problem (I had one AirPod replaced 2 years ago), is it a good idea to buy the AirPods Pro 2 now while they are discounted, or should I wait for a better deal or newer model? They are currently 25% off at my local electronics shop.

While you're deliberating, I had the same scenario with my APP 1 but got some more use out of them when I learned that they didn't crackle when noise cancellation or transparency mode were off, but they eventually got noisy again after a few months.

Why didn’t you take them back? I have taken Apple kit back a few times before and I didn’t have Apple Care and they fixed free or replaced.

25% is the best discount you will fine. £50 off on the Apple Store Amazon at the moment and they have been since Black Friday. (£179)

I had Apple Care which covered replacing the crackling pod, but the other one had the issue after the 3 year extended repair window. I had some futile discussions with Apple support and gave up. Still have a bad vibe from that which is why I've been using Beats Fit Pro, but dang it, now the wings have torn, but I have Apple Care so will get them replaced and hope for the best.

You can't beat taking them into an Apple Store. My five year old Thunderbolt display was fixed for free and I never had Apple Care on it apart from it's first year. The Apple guy told me what to say to him. You can expect six years of problem free functionality under the Sales of Goods Act in England and Wales.

You'll be waiting almost a year for a new model so that's entirely up to you.
The APP2's have been in production long enough for any major kinks to be worked out.

I'm not so sure about a year wait. At the iPhone 16 keynote in September Apple seemed to announce the AirPod Pro 2s as a new product and I was surprised to find they were launched in September 2022. They also seem to be discounting the Pro 2s for much longer than they need to. Black Friday was 11 days ago and they are still at the Black Friday sales price via the Apple Store on Amazon UK.

They've had over two years to get the Pro 3s ready...

Lol yes Apple are experts at doing this with their marketing spins. I'm sure they catch average consumers with this trick all the time.

2019 - APP1
2022 - APP2
can you math?

They are not a big purchase. If you want/need them now buy them. If you don't wait but you might wait a long time. Apple always keep any product announcements close to its chest.
