    Hey guys,

Its coming to my birthday, and on the list for updating is my mac.

I use my mac mini for mixing, but logic 8 is just caning the cpu, and I just feel twitchy.

But i dunno whether I shoul buy the new iMac bottom of line.

WHat games can it handle, how bad exactly is the screen, and how does it perform with Logic?

    Cheers

With logic would go great if you would have 4GB RAM installed.
I use my macbook wth cubase and it runs awesome.

For games... not a good choice. Screen. 6bit colors so not a state of the art. Get a refurb 24" max it with RAM and you'll love it plus a good bang for the buck.

Well I am a lowly student, (UK) so i'll shall probably be buyin a 20 inch bottom of the line imac from the Higher Education store, then, later on buy 4gb ram from crucial.

24 inch refurb will prob cost the same as Student discount 24 inch new.

Dont get me wrong i'd love a 24 inch (ho ho ho) but its all about the dough. Unless someone knows somewhere uber cheap to get em in the uk.

I think that there is no issue with the 20" screen ...
All the screens from 19"-26" in the market are coming with TN panel (just like the 20" iMac) ,except the expensive ones ...

What have games got to do with the quality of the screen?

    New 20" iMac w/ Education Discount = $1,149.00
    Refurb 24" iMac - $1,399
    New 24" iMac w/ Education Discount = $1,699.00

You should just go for the 24" refurb. You'd get a better graphics card, a bigger hard drive, plus a screen that you'd enjoy so much more.

I think that'd be your best bet.

Did I write anything about games and screen??
I wrote that for games is not a good choice.
Then wrote 'screen' and why I think is bad.
